Teclast X98 ProはCherry Trail搭載の9.7インチ タブレットです。
Intel Atom X5-Z8500/RAM 4GB/eMMC 64GB/IPS 2,048×1,536のスペックで526gと言う日本メーカーではまだ出ていないような高スペック中華タブレットです。

今回はこいつをWindows 10/Android 5.1.1のデュアルブート可能な状態にしてみたので、その手順などについてまとめて見ました。

Windows 10/Android 5.1.1のデュアルブートへ

と言っても、Teclastがファームウェアなどを提供しているので、基本的にはTECHTabletsなどのリファレンス通りやればOKなんはずですが、いくつかうまくいかない箇所があったのでメモ代わりに残しておきます。

ざっくり手順

ざっくりとデュアルブート化の手順をまとめると次の通りです。

1. ファームウェア(BIOS)を更新する
2. Androidを書き込む
3. Windowsをインストールする

ファームウェアの更新によって、起動時にOS選択のメニューが表示されるようになります。
BIOSメニューにも起動OSを指定する項目がありますが、それを電源の起動時に選択できるようにするためのものです。

以下詳細な手順です。

WARNING: by flashing new bios you will probably loose camera (let’s hope that only temporary, until new bios update). I haven’t checked whether the camera was working in windows after bios update, but after android flash and windows recovery it doesn’t work in neither android or windows

Windows 10のインストール用イメージファイル

always remove chinese characters from the names of extracted folders to avoid problems and errors
※ダウンロードしたファイルを展開すると、フォルダーには中国語が含まれていますが、必ず英数字のみに名前を変更します(書き込み時などに失敗します)

1. first backup your data from windows, since android instalation will wipe the original windows and everything will be deleted
   タブレット上のすべてのデータが削除されますので注意
2. charge the tablet to full battery
   バッテリーは満充電にしておきましょう
3. then you need to update bios, preferably from the root of C: drive to avoid problems (also run the installer as admin), as described in this video from Chris

   管理者権限でコマンドプロンプトを立ち上げ、BIOSのアップデーターを実行しましょう
   私の環境ではアップデートが失敗というメッセージが出たのですが、そのまま次に進めました
   Now you will have dualboot menu after restart, but don’t try to load android, you will just get windows bsod
   自分の環境ではブラックスクリーンのまま相当時間がかかりました(30分以上放置してから起動したのに気付いた)ので、気長に放置しておきましょう
4. install intel flash tools on your pc (not on the tablet) in this order
   a. iSocUSB Driver
   b. IntelAndroidDriver
   c. PhoneFlashTool
   この順番を守り、新しいバージョンがどうたら言われたらすべてアップデートします
5. boot your tablet in fastboot mode, hold both volume buttons and press power button for 3 seconds, you will see “DNX FASTBOOT” on the display
   if you have problems with detection of connected tablet by your pc, try entering DNX mode through bios setting or try changing os image id in bios
   私の環境ではこの画面が表示されなかったので、キーボードを繋いでBIOSから直接DNXモードに設定して起動しました
6. Connect the tablet to your pc using usb cable
   ※書き込みにはMacBook使ったのですが、USB Cマルチアダプター経由だと書き込みに失敗するので、USB A-USB C変換コネクタを使いました
7. launch intel phone flash tool, you should see the tablet in the device listing
8. In phone flash tool browse for flash.json file in folder with extracted android rom image
9. select blank configuration and flash the rom to tablet (see first pic)
10. After reboot you should have working android, first android boot takes some time, it will hang at the intel inside logo for a few minutes, so be patient
11. few tips for first steps in android:
    1) change language from chinese to your preferred language: settings icon (bottom left), globe icon, first line
    globeアイコンって地球儀アイコンのことでした(^^;
    2) delete data and cache of TOS launcher app in all apps settings, this will reset the names of applications to english
    3) launch TeclastAutoUpdate app and download and install new android update, otherwise the store will not work (this app crashed in the first try, but then it worked)
    4) you can uninstall unneeded chinese apps and install some better launcher from the store
    TOSランチャーが起動すると中華アプリをインストールしまくるので、早めにランチャーアプリを入れると良いと思います
12. Now we will restore windows and make the tablet dualboot
13. You will need at least 8GB flash drive, formatted to fat32 and during formating set the label to “WINPE”, otherwise it will not work
    フォーマット時にボリュームラベルを”WINPE”にしないと、インストールできないので注意です
14. Copy all the files from win10 recovery to flash drive
15. Connect the flash drive to the tablet and reboot, the tablet will detect it automatically and you will be able to choose windows from dualboot menu
16. The whole windows installation process is automatic and it will not request any input from you, it will take some time, so make sure that the tablet is charged
17. after the windows installation you will go through standard windows OOBE where you can setup user etc.. and then, after few restarts you will have almost fully working dualboot K9C3

各OSの切り替えは、Androidでは、電源ボタンを長押しで「Back to Windows」のメニューが表示されるのですが、Windows側では中国語の切り替えアプリを実行する必要があります。

まとめ

簡単とは言い難いですが、片手間に数時間かければデュアルブート環境が手に入るというのは素晴らしいことですね。

Cherry Trailで動かすAndroidはめちゃくちゃスムーズに動きます。

Windows 10もOffice用途などではまったく問題ありません。
2GBメモリのマシンだと、EdgeやChromeで10個もタブを開くと速度低下が著しいのですが、そういった重さもまったく感じず。

また、Teclast X89HDなどの高解像度ディスプレイを積んだタブレットで感じていた画面描画の遅さは、BayTrailと比較してGPUの強化が行われたおかげかまったく感じなくなり、快適そのものです。

唯一デュアルブート化によって内蔵eMMCの容量が各OSに割り当てた分減ってしまいましたが、microSDカードなどによってデータの保存領域を別にすることで凌げるのではないかと思っています。
